SUPPORTING SMEs IN THE CITY
Understanding Local Business Challenges
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form the backbone of Coleman Street Ward and the wider City. I understand the pressures they face: regulatory demands, administrative burdens, competitive markets, and tight deadlines. Having run multiple businesses myself, I know what it takes to succeed in this environment.
Experience Across Sectors
I have worked with professional services firms, financial institutions, and law firms, advising on strategy, governance, and compliance. My consulting work with smaller legal firms earned Lexcel Accreditation, recognising innovative growth strategies that improved profitability and market position. In financial services, I have supported top UK banks, fund managers, and hedge fund start-ups, providing guidance on regulatory requirements, operations, and commercial strategy.
Advocacy and Representation
As an example of my commitment to SMEs, I recently met with the Chancellor and Martin McTague, chair of the Federation of Small Businesses, at Guildhall to exchange views and concerns in this area. Whilst I cannot change policy alone, I will ensure that SMEs’ concerns are heard, represented, and championed at every level. I will engage with businesses directly, bringing their perspectives to the Corporation and advocating for conditions that enable growth, innovation, and resilience.
Committed to Practical Solutions
My approach is rooted in hands-on experience and practical understanding. I will continue to work with SMEs to develop strategies that increase profitability, drive sustainable growth, and strengthen the contribution of local businesses to Coleman Street Ward and the wider City.
